George Canning Born

Prime Minister 1827-1827 (only 119 days, the shortest PM tenure). Born Marylebone. 21 September 1809, Putney Heath, fought a duel with Lord Castlereagh, Secretary of State for War, over the deployment of troops. Should they go to the Netherlands or Portugal? Castlereagh was a crack shot, Canning wasn’t and was wounded in the thigh. Died Chiswick House, Middlesex, whilst in office.
